Message I would go with Crimestopper. Its a much more solid alarm.
Compustar unit is a POS. It has several faults in its design.

Here are some quotes from a well respected member on honda-tech.com.

"Please don't peddle off these POS devices here in this forum... It was a POS alarm yesterday... And it still remains a POS alarm system today !!!
PERIOD...

We have tested this and many other Tiawanese, Korea, China, and Malasia made units in the last 5 years... Bottom line... They are just bells and whistles !!!

It takes 30 seconds for me to disable the unit you just listed... How do I know??? Because I am a part time REPO man for the financial institutions here in the Bad Lands, and have toyed with them on several occasions..."

"Well seeing that you are a new HT member... Welcome !!! Regardless of that fact this is what I know from personal experience and will address some of your questions here...
Compustar and the similair like devices have been marketed for many years thus far... The idea of the vehicle icon has been used extensivly by the lower end Korean, Chinese, and Tiawanese manufactures for their own domestic consumption for several reasons... A) Gimmick B) Bells & Whistles C) Marketing

1) Not one of these devices untill two years ago were FCC certified or approved for North American distribution... Why??? Because not one of 5 companies that pander their wares could meet the minimum performance stats and RFI standards that is controlled and governed by the FCC and the CRTC here in Canada...

How do I know this??? Because during the last five years I have been working with and contracted by 4 of the five companies to obtain there FCC & CRTC licenses and product marketing stratagies...

I was untill 3 years ago contracted by Alpha Technologies Inc in Korea for their Boomerang & Aladdin alarm (pathetic) systems... I was under contract by Yen Shui Marketing Co. of Malaysia for their FM two pager that displays a very rude looking Lambo... Yes that pathetic unit !!!

B) Compustar in it's first iteration attempted to saturate the market with fancy mag ads and other hype... They tried to sell the original unit in three levels to those less then knowledgable buyers... From the full out alarm / auto starter... To it's limited two way paging unit...

The units attempt to sell as a auto starter was.... Pathetic... Why??? Because the unit and it's manufacture(s) failed to incorporate common sense safety bypasses incase of accidental starts... As I recall, it has been several years so I hope that they have indeed addressed the issues that I sent to them...

No hood open sense, neutral safety, brake depress, etc... There were many other issues that they had interms of installation issues, but I will have to look over my notes from the past for that...

Winning a CES award for what??? They have not done anything that hasn't been done before... They havent even done it better in fact... Crimestoppers was in 1988 the very first company to sell and market a FM two way transciever called the Commander...

Crimestoppers has and still does hold 65 world patents that Clifford, DEI, and most security companies pay to use under their own branded stratagen... What does Compustar have in ways of patents and accomplishments??? Nothing... They don't even make a decent immobolizer and rely on the 1970 NC made in China relay that is rated for a mere 20 amps...

Regardless of that... If you seriously feel that the compustar unit does indeed hold it's own better than a Clifford, DEI, or Crimstoppers... Then your entitled to your IMO... In the real world, Compustar uses low quality, mass marketed sub strate level 2 & 3 boards and still does not have ISO licenses for their manufacture..

What does that mean to the average guy you ask??? The MFR (mean failure rate) of how long something will last in service is below the industry standard(s)

You only need to open one of these units and look at there cheap internal relays and internal 1970 potentometers within...

Why do you sell them??? Most likely because you see them as an opportunity to make alot of $$$ for little costs... Period... What are the costs / price ratios compared to VIPER DEI & Clifford, Crimestoppers, VSE, Code, branded alarms??? 2 to 3 times more to your bottom line !!! We are talking about economics not real security and please don't think I don't know that...

I have been a profit & loss officer for the fortune 50 for 17 years and know how to count the beans as they say...

Bottom line here is this... The unit and it's like are made cheap !!! They pander gimmicks and bells and whistles that in the real world do little to offer real security protection... If your curious as to what I know and what I am trained for... Please look up any post about security systems and my replies pertaining to them...

Your company may sell alot of them as you say and that is up to you... No harm in making money !!! But please don't tell me that YOU personally feel that it is better than any other unit on the market... Because that's simply untrue, and to your customers is disrespectfull to them to lead them with false security...

I could tell you how (I) and the other team members in my unit disable this unit without so much as a yelp... But if your in the industry... You would know the weakness and downfall of this unit and the other like them... And no, to the rest of you guys... I don't share this info with none legally bonded authorized persons for obvious reasons..."

"Would it take me more than 30 seconds to disable this device and your install???

No... It would take me less than 30 seconds !!! You may ask... WTF how does this guy know this??? Because (I) was on the design team !!! You aszz munch... It wasd a POS yesterday... It will remain ever so a POS tomorrow !!!!

Now to all those who want to buy this toy... Because it is just that... A very expensive toy... Please go right ahead... It's a free world....

But if your vehicle is so equiped with this device and I am the fortunate REPO man to disable it.... I will personally make sure that the entire system is toasted beyound repair... Not hard since it is made with level 2-3 electronics.... LMFAO"

I was planning on getting the compustar unit until I spoke with his guy. He recommended Clifford, Crimestopper and DEI.

But its your money, do what you want.

AND

I have read thru the actual post for honda-tech.com (from "tekken") that has been pasted above and it seems as the problems he is referring to are from years past.
The current compustars hook up either to the brake or e-brake depending on auto trans or stick shift.

As for being able to shut it down in less than 30 seconds, he may be able to do this but can the average theif do this? Probably not if it is installed correctly with layers of protection- glass sensor, back up battery siren, hidden main siren and backup battery for the security system. All of these I believe can be added to the system.

I do not sell crimestopper or compustar but from installing both there is no way I would ever put one of the crimestopper two way in my personal auto. From the what I can tell the crimestopper is just a rebadged unit. I would have no problem driving a Honda Accord, but putting a Honda sticker on a Rodeo does not make it a Honda.

I personally have been patiently waiting for the LONG OVER DUE Viper two way system which I just saw a picture of early this week, cant wait to take the garbage command start out of my car. It was in it when I purchased the car.

One note it sounds like Tekken is a extremely intelligent guy that has much more knowledge on the innerworkings of a security brain than I do, but what the heck is a such a smart guy that does profit/losses for companies doing repoing cars? Not trying to start a fight, just a question.
